Competition Topics For 2009 Month Topic Definitions and Descriptions Click To View January General-Vintage This is our annual January theme of General Vintage. Any subject, taken at any time is eligible for entry. View Winners February Doors & Windows definitions: Door --> A movable structure used to close off an entrance, or the entrance (the space in a wall) through which you enter or leave. Window --> An opening constructed in a wall that functions to admit light or air to an enclosure often framed and spanned with glass mounted to permit opening and closing. *Be literal, or be creative; just be sure your subject is some type of door or window! View Winners March Abstract Abstract images aren't pictures of objects; they're pictures of shapes, textures, lines and the like. They are generally produced by moving in close to an everyday object to include only a small part of it in the photo, by zeroing in on a small part of a distant subject with a long lens, by deliberately throwing the subject out of focus, or by shooting a subject's reflection rather than (or along with) the subject itself.  View Winners April Junk A collection of unused items; i.e. junk yard, trash pile, or old stuff laying around. NO buildings or parts of buildings. View Winners May Animals Any and all animals except humans, insects, birds, and butterflies - subject must be living at time photo captured!  View Winners June Macro Macro The original size of the subject can not exceed 8" by 10" to be considered close up photography for this competition. This is a detailed view taken very close to the subject.  View Winners July Night Images shot after sunset and before sunrise. NO sunset or sunrise images will be permitted. The sky does not need to be completely black. View Winners August Old Houses, Barnes, Stores and Outbuildings RUSTIC "old" is not referring to the age of the structure but to the condition. View Winners September Shapes in Nature Unusual shapes occurring naturally and unexpectedly in plants, rock formations, etc. NO man made elements. View Winners October People  Images of "human form". Children at Play, Portraits, Candids, etc.  View Winners November Reflections Images that utilize a reflective surface without creating a computer generated reflection. The original subject does not have to be include; the reflection itself should be the main subject. View Winners December Second Chance & Best of Year Second Chance - A winner will be chosen among the entries which won 2nd Place, 3rd Place or H.M. during this year.
